Preliminary machining and finish machining of STAVAX, SKD-II and other die materials, as well as metallic materials such as SS, ceramics, etc., are possible. In addition to manual operation, plunge machining and traverse grinding are also possible by fully automatic operation.
■ Efficient machining
The rigid machine design ensures heavy-duty grinding with high stock removal.
A standard type for infeed of 2μm - 30μm through the SGM series for minimum infeed of 0.5μm is available.
1. A wide machining area and excellent straightness. These are the reasons for many users to select “superior accuracy”.
A large table work area ensures a broad range of grinding. The scraping surface, finished by skilled workman spending time and effort, and unique sliding surface design achieve unprecedented straightness accuracy with restricting a change in travelling line during right/left-table movement and no change in posture caused by the load. The saddle incorporates a Nagase original, ultra wide and ultra low friction V&V slideway.
2. Unique ultra shock-free reverse table for machining with an unprecedented level of quality
The original parts configuration enables smooth reverse rotation of the longitudinal table. This reduces influence on the grinding surface due to reverse shock and demonstrates high-quality machining that conventional general-purpose machines cannot achieve.
3. High-rigidity and high-precision spindle for finish machining of hard-to-machine materials through heavy-duty grinding
The spindle unit employs an super-precision angular contact bearing which supports the radial and axial load securely. It can be used for precision finish machining of hard-to-machine materials and for heavy-duty grinding using high-number grinding wheel. The Balance Vector (Doctor) NB-3012 for automatically measuring and correcting the balance of the rotating grinding wheel restricts rotational vibration of the grinding wheel and achieves quality machining. In addition, Nagase’s original hydrostatic bearing and ultra-low vibration motor can be mounted (optional).
4. High-rigidity column for submicron infeed
The column has a large width on the front/rear sides and a precision guide mechanism is employed to enhance rigidity in infeed. With SGM, the minimum infeed amount of the vertical axis can be set to 0.5μm. This micro infeed is also used for precision grinding with a high-number grinding wheel.
5. Main body designed to use less space and high rigidity
The main body is combined with the oil tank to save space. It is also designed to minimize heat accumulation on the table surface even after machining for a long time. The ribs are arranged appropriately to maintain rigidity of the body.
6. User-friendly operation panel and automatic grinding cycle
The display on the operation panel uses a combination of symbol marks and Japanese so even a beginner can operate it easily. Three kinds of automatic cycle grinding including step, traverse and plunge grindings are possible by simple operation procedure.
■ Shock-free horizontal table
Stroke adjustment for longitudinal reverse rotations is easily done.
■ Nagase’s unique ultra-wide and ultra-low friction V&V slideway
The wide slideway has less load on the unit area so that the oil film on it becomes thin and reduces fluctuation.
■ Designed for high operability
The workpiece can be set efficiently, not only for manual operation but also for automatic operation.
■ New Balance Vector NB-3012
Accurate grinding is easily done through the display of vibration caused by wheel rotation.
■ Digital scale for vertical and cross axes
Accurate position display and improved machining accuracy are possible.

Nagase will offer diamond/CGN wheels, WA/GC grinding wheels, dressers, flanges and filters according to customer’s grinding needs.
