NAGASE's on-machine measurement technology was developed in response to customer concerns about shape measurement of large workpieces that are difficult to measure outside the machine.Utilizing the high accuracy of machine motion, the high-precision probe enables precise measurement of workpiece height, shape pitch, hole diameter, etc., as well as tolerance verification and contour shape measurement, with functions equivalent to those of the latest 3D measuring machines.This enables precision measurement of large workpieces as well as high-production ultra-precision machining. This unit is now indispensable for large ultra-precision grinding machines.

- High-precision on-machine measurement system that enables various types of three-dimensional measurements by utilizing the accuracy of machine motion and high repeatability.
- This system can be used for on-machine measurement of large workpieces that are difficult to measure outside the machine, or precision workpieces with tight tolerances.Enables on-the-spot evaluation and correction of workpieces without removing them from the machine.
- From simple measurements such as workpiece height, shape pitch, and diameter, to "tolerance verification (verification with design value), " "contour shape measurement (contour verification), " and "free-form surface evaluation, " on-machine measurements can be performed with the same functions as the latest 3D measuring machines.
- The machine can be mounted on machines with specifications that use hydrostatic or rolling guideways for the vertical, cross, longitudinal axis, and linear motors for longitudinal axis actuator drive.
- The system configuration includes a high-precision probe, dedicated software, and a PC for output.Customized probes, etc., are available upon request (please contact our sales department for details).
Repeatability Evaluation Results for Various On-Machine Measurements
Taking advantage of the machine's high repeatability, it is possible to measure three-dimensional shapes with an error of less than 0.2 μm. (Machine used: SGC-630α)
Repeated Measurement Repeatability (standard deviation) in Vertical Direction: 0.09μm
Repeatability of Hole Diameter Measurement (standard deviation): 0.16μm
Various types of on-machine measurements can be easily made by using a joystick.
Repeated Measurement Repeatability of 3D Shape (sphere): 0.10μm
Automatic measurement based on 3D CAD data is possible.
